Plan a visitPlaygroup at the Tunbridge library starts with outdoor play. Children run, climb, and breathe fresh air before settling into an interactive story time. Teachers read aloud and let children turn pages, point at pictures, and guess what happens next.
Hands-on crafts follow, with supplies ready for small hands. Songs and games round out the morning, building turn-taking and listening skills. Every child joins at their own pace.
Children gain social time with peers and trusted adults. Parents get a low-key way to meet other families. The morning is built for ages six weeks to five years.
Community outreach takes many forms. OCPCC runs a Community Cabinet, a Diaper Bank, and monthly Activity Bags, and hosts pop-up playgroups and visits to local farmers markets, concerts, and other community events. The goal is simple: connecting families to resources, support, and each other.
The Community Cabinet is our on-site food program. It is open Monday through Friday, 8:00AM to 4:00PM. Anyone may visit once a week to supplement their grocery shopping. No referral needed. Visit the Community Cabinet page for details.
Located in our Community Cabinet, our Diaper Bank is regularly stocked with sizes 2-6. Pull-Ups, wipes, newborn diapers, and other diapering essentials are stocked based on availability and what we receive from community donations.
OCPCC partners with five local libraries to give out free monthly activity kits. Each month is a different craft with all the supplies needed. Kits are available at Kimball Public Library in Randolph, Tunbridge Public Library, Chelsea Public Library, Bradford Public Library, and Blake Memorial Library in Corinth while supplies last. OCPCC often partners with local organizations to offer outreach at community events, including the Gifford on the Green summer concert series and the Tunbridge World's Fair. Check our Community Calendar to see what is coming up.
OCPCC plans regular, seasonal community events. These events are free to the public and designed to provide opportunities for area families to have fun, play, and spend time together.
In a licensed playgroup, children move between free play, a story, a craft, and songs. Adults set out supplies at child height. They sit on the floor and join in. Parents stay with their child or step back and watch. A typical session runs about an hour. Children choose what to try. No child is pushed to share or sit still.
At home, the benefits show up in small ways. Your child hums a song from story time, or asks for the same craft again. They are more comfortable in a group and more willing to try something new. You meet other families who live nearby, and you have a place to go on a weekday that costs nothing and lasts about an hour.
